sir jay's prototype definition of power
power is the ability to maintain
or influence an assertion
an assertion in the context of the prototype definition could be:
a] a physical assertion [ we will occupy, we will destroy, etc to use some current ones]
b] an ideological? [not sure if right word - perhaps cultural] one [ chinese traditional melodies have no connection to the blues]
c] a propagandoral one [ the isreali soldiers were captured in lebanon/isreal]
d] an academic one [ neanderthal people all died out]
e] etc
f] etc
.... perhaps in the definition one could include the phrase: " in a particular environment/context/space" etc , ie some proviso ....
eg in the msm hezbolla is solely to blame for the recent israel/ lebanon crises :
"context" or betterly and less confusedly "domain?" being msm and the context [perhaps] being the totality of the phrase or just the subject matter : blame for the particular crisis ... that might be just basic grammar.
perhaps by separating [as in the proposed definition above] it can fit, or splice into other definition indecies
the way the definition is formed seems? to allow for resistance to power in any context
does not seem to preclude multiple actors or agencies,
or one assertion having qualities relevent to more than one "field"
it doesnt seem? to rule out deliberately deceitful assertions though it can perhaps help to indicate some values for value assumptions/assertions/judgements concerning truth.
the maintenance of power bit seems? to allow for some sort of hint at expenditure of some kind of energy...... then perhaps one can look at structure dunno, ...its new to me,
